Zanzibar

Beyond protecting domestic forests, CFI partners with rural Zanzibar communities to restore vital mangrove ecosystems, advance spice agroforestry and champion gender equality. This community-led work directly mitigates the impact of climate disasters while creating sustainable, diversified income streams for those who need it most.

Your support empowers these communities to lead their own climate resilience

Indulge in a beautiful menu of Swahili-inspired dishes, enjoy an educational cultural presentation, and get a chance to win exciting door prizes! The money raised will go directly to supporting women in Zanzibar.

  • Tickets: $45 + tax (with a suggested donation of $35)

  • Location: Le Chat Bleu

  • Date & Time: November 14th at 4:30 pm

The Menu:

  • The Dawa Cocktail/Mocktail: Literally translating to "Medicine" in Swahili, the Dawa is East Africa's most famous cocktail. It is built with vodka, fresh lime, crushed ice, and muddled with a wooden stick dipped in thick, local honey.

  • -------------------------------------

  • Mshakiki  - beloved East African street food - marinated chicken skewers. In Zanzibar they would be flamed-grilled cubes of beef, chicken and goat.

  • Viazi Karai -  crispy fried potato, a highly popular coastal Swahili street food. The name literally translates to "potatoes from the basin/frying pan" in Swahili, referencing the large, deep metal pans street vendors use to fry them over open charcoal.

Paired with tangy Tamarind Chutney  sweet, sour, and spicy flavor profile

  • Kachumbari  the ultimate refreshing condiment across the Swahili coast. Uncooked, crisp, and intensely zesty, it's East Africa's answer to pico de gallo or salsa

  • ---------------------------------

  • Ndizi za Nazi "Coconut Bananas" - comforting cardamom infused delicacy.
